What is it?

Vintage – retro – brocante – antique – curiosa, what is it all about? Briefly and concisely explained what these terms mean.

Vintage The term vintage is used all the time these days, but it is actually only meant for things from the 1920s to the 1980s. In most cases, these are still in good condition. They clearly refer to (interior) styles from that period. The term vintage can also be used for unused items from that period, so-called “new old stock”. Retro Retro refers to newly produced products but with a “vintage” look. Antiques Antique is used for everything older than 100 years (75 years for books). Usually these are also handmade, which also makes for a higher price. Brocante Brocante items are younger than antiques and also not in the best condition as is the case with vintage. It is mainly the lived-through or used look that is important here.
